The Faculty of Fine Arts at An-Najah National University organized a workshop titled “From Lecture Halls to the Labor Market” on Wednesday, 24/12/2025, organized by Dr. Ehab Abu-Hannoud from the Department of Applied Arts.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the link between academic study and
practical professional experience, and to shed light on the requirements
and opportunities of the labor market, with a particular focus on the UAE
labor market in the field of interior design. This contributes to preparing
students and graduates to transition smoothly from academic study to
professional practice.
The workshop was delivered Designer Abd-ulmutaleb Ramadan, a
graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts – Interior Design specialization, and
founder of Mario Contracting and Decoration Company. He has
professional experience dating back to 2015 and has participated in the
implementation of several projects for government entities in the United
Arab Emirates.
The workshop addressed a number of key topics, including field training as
a first step toward entering the labor market, requirements of interior design
graduates, job opportunities in the Emirati and Gulf markets, differences
between governmental and private projects, basics of pricing, preparation
of Bills of Quantities (BOQ), competition in project tenders, and
fundamentals of project management, adherence to delivery schedules,
and their impact on professional reputation.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from students, given the
practical experiences and professional advice it offered, which contribute to
building a successful career path in the field of interior design and support
the faculty’s approach of aligning academic education with labor market
needs.
