Vision, Mission and objectives

With its different specializations and based on its perspective, the Faculty of Fine Arts embraces and acts upon the idea that art is the soul of nations, and that civilization rises from art. Creative art reflects the philosophy and tenderness of the artist thought. From here, the faculty aims basically to enhance the academic thinking and the artistic one side by side with focus on proficiency and practical application put at its top priority the maintenance of a distinguished and pioneering level on the national level and to compete with academic education institution on international level. It also supports the continuous development of the faculty, according to what different artistic directions and the renovated art work techniques of all levels require.
 
That's why, we find ourselves, in a persistent effort to develop our tools and methods, to encourage our students to do more research and study to stimulate them for more creativity and distinction and to ensure the team work spirit.
 
We have our special vision in the course of development that goes vertically in each specialization on its own, and horizontally to establish more of the related specializations. In addition to that we aim to enhance the role of the faculty in achieving more projects related to university activities, and to prepare and organize exhibitions and workshops with the participation of the societies of the local community.
 
We have faith that we are, in the Faculty of Fine Arts, capable of developing a comprehensive vision, where the staff members and students cohere to develop the professional generation we all look forward to.

The Faculty of Arts presents an academic curriculum according to which a student could acquire a BA in the following academic specializations:

1. Painting
2. Interior Design (Designing)
3. Musicology
4. Graphic Design
5. Ceramics
   
    

Starting with the university message that points at being distinctive in academic performance, and on the international level, through providing a quality of higher education in different specializations that serve the local community and the surrounding communities through the graduation of distinctively qualified students on the academic and scientific levels with the required needs for local market and surrounding markets, the faculty of Arts is working on achieving progress and prosperity for the nations of the region, through its implementation of the university vision of the developments that are taking place on worldwide, especially in this region. This region needs qualified human resources for the construction, progress and the uplifting of all aspects of our homeland and other nations as well.

The faculty of Arts, at An-Najah National University, as the rest of the university faculties looks always for distinction as being the only faculty in Palestine that grants an academic certificate in Arts and Music. The faculty has set the path for the creative art talents, to join the academic study. It also worked on polishing those talents and prepared them very well so they become able to spread the musical and artistic awareness among the Palestinian people, and in the region through its different programs of all aspects that contributed in enhancing and raising the level of art and music culture in Palestinian society.

The Faculty of fine Arts has contributed through giving its students a methodological teaching by going through the intense competition that is seen by the labor market by using developed art and science methods that work on advancing creative and critical thinking in the fields of Applied and Formative Arts and Music. These increase the students’ skills to enable them to inter the world of professionalism with high efficiency that is based on implementing the newest techniques that accept the continuous development to keep up with the scientific and artistic demands of the local market. This development depends on the criteria that the students undergo; those students who are accepted in those new programs accepted by specialized international colleges that is based on the quality resulting from the information and technology revolution.

By this it aims to connect its programs with the rapid scientific changes occurring in global societies.
The academic programs offered in the different sections, are being distinguished by its comprehension and specialization together and at the same time, in addition to the flexibility in selective courses to develop the student’s interest in all specialization available in the faculty.

The faculty of Arts aims at developing the students’ art and performance skills, and enables them to produce art works with high artistic level using traditional and creative raw materials. It offers all possibilities to keep up with local and international formative movements, and present to the Palestinian and Arabic community, artists with distinguished qualification and efficient and continuous participation by insuring its pioneering role in the country by supporting art and Palestinian artists. The faculty aims at achieving a higher level of cultural cooperation and exchange between itself and the local and international institutions.

It aims at implementing the role of students in the process of development and efficient contribution through group work and participation in many activities and by encouraging academic exchange programs with arts programs at other universities. Through following a distinctive course with shared activities with the local community institution which contributes in strengthening the concept of art in community and its taste in general and Palestinian arts in specific, the students, through these activities, can apply the mental directions that result from multiple art experiences.

The faculty of Arts will always be an undying fountain for the Palestinian art movement, and its development will not be confined to the local and global level, but it will proceed forward to compete with the international academic and art institutions. The faculty plays a pioneering and sensitive role that goes with the sensitivity of Palestinian reality as people and civilization.
