Dr. Mervat Aiash from the Faculty of Fine Arts Applied Arts participated in the International Conference work on "Islamic Art in the Interface of Extremism" held at Alexandrina Library of Alexandria in the Arab Republic of Egypt, The conference was organized by the Library in cooperation with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), It was attended by a number of Arab cultural figures and prominent experts and specialists in the Islamic Arts and Archeology in the Arab and Islamic worlds and in Europe.
Dr. Aiash presented a research paper entitled "Artistic and aesthetic values of the ceramic tiles of the external facades of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem" through studying the intellectual and philosophical aspects of the ceramic tile decoration, the aesthetic values of innovative and technical approaches in a scientific way, monitoring and rooting of these decorations and the role played by Armenians in the manufacture of these tiles which shows the tolerance of Islam and acceptance of the other.
شاركت الدكتورة ميرفت عياش من كلية الفنون الجميلة قسم الفنون التطبيقية في اعمال المؤتمر الدولي "الفن الإسلامي في مواجهة التطرف" الذي انعقد في مكتبة الإسكندرية في جمهورية مصر العربية والذي اقامته المكتبة بالتعاون مع المنظمة الإسلامية للتربية والعلوم والثقافة (الإيسيكو) الذي شاركت فيه شخصيات عربية ثقافية ونخبة من الخبراء والمتخصصين في الفنون والأثار الإسلامية في العالمين العربي والإسلامي وفي أوروبا.
حيث قدمت الدكتورة ميرفت عياش ورقة بحثية بعنوان "القيم الفنية والجمالية للبلاطات الخزفية للواجهات الخارجية لقبة الصخرة في مدينة القدس" من خلال دراسة الجوانب الفكرية والفلسفية لزخارف البلاطات الخزفية وماهية القيم الجمالية من منطلقات ابتكارية وابداعية ومعالجات تقنية بأسلوب علمي، ورصد وتأصيل هذه الزخارف والدور الذي لعبه الأرمن في صناعة هذه البلاطات وإظهار مدى تسامح الدين الإسلامي وتقبله للأخر.
